Ian Whitehurst delivering three-part series on International Arbitration & Dispute Resolution at the University of the West Indies in Barbados.

Following the delivery of the opening lecture in a three-part series on International Arbitration & Dispute Resolution at the University of the West Indies, Barbados, Ian Whitehurst will return to lecture in the second session in the programme.

The lecture series offers practical perspectives on international arbitration and analyses cases from their inception to enforcement.

The first session in the series, Structuring the Dispute: Jurisdiction, Process & Strategic Choice, focused on the architecture of international commercial disputes. Ian Whitehurst explored how jurisdiction, process selection and commercial strategy can shape the outcome of a cross-border dispute before the merits are ever determined.

The second session in the series, The Asset Recovery Case That Goes Wrong, examines why successful criminal investigations can nevertheless result in ineffective asset recovery. Through a practical case study, Ian Whitehurst explores the common pitfalls involving financial investigations, beneficial ownership, asset preservation, cryptoassets and cross-border cooperation, highlighting how early strategic decisions can determine whether criminal proceeds are ultimately recovered.
