When Arbitration Meets Criminal Law: Ian Whitehurst to Deliver SIDRA Lecture
We are delighted to share that Ian Whitehurst will be delivering an online lecture hosted by the Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy (SIDRA) at Singapore Management University (SMU), alongside moderator Yuying Zhang.
The lecture, When Arbitration Meets Criminal Law: Fraud, Evidence and the Limits of Private Justice, will examine the practical challenges that arise when fraud, corruption or other potentially criminal or regulatory wrongdoing emerges in an international arbitration.
The discussion will address the evidential and professional responsibilities of counsel and tribunals. The lecture will also consider interim measures, the preservation of evidence and assets, third-party material, and the particular challenges that allegations of fraud or illegality may create at the challenge and enforcement stages. These issues will be explored through a practical, case-based approach.
Drawing on his 30 years of experience in complex fraud, financial crime, regulatory, cross-border disputes and international arbitration, the lecture brings together several key areas of Ian’s practice.
