Our work spans onshore and offshore advice, litigation, and arbitration across common law jurisdictions worldwide, with particular depth in the Caribbean and the Middle East.

Further information
We are a leading set in disputes involving commercial and financial wrongdoing - particularly fraud, bribery, and corruption.
Where we act
Members appear in the Crown, Magistrates', County, and High Courts, the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, and Privy Council, as well as arbitral and regulatory tribunals.

History
Chambers was founded in 2008 with a singular focus: commercial wrongdoing in all its forms. The premise was straightforward — clients' problems rarely fell neatly into civil, criminal, or regulatory categories, and no other chambers was equipped to work across all three whilst recognising and protecting clients' exposure to prosecutors, claimants, and regulators.
That premise has only strengthened. Whether acting for prosecutors, claimants, and applicants, or for defendants and respondents, the demand for expertise across civil, criminal, and regulatory proceedings has grown.
Long recognised for our expertise in financial crime and proceeds of crime, in 2024 we began expanding across all our practice areas, recruiting members and clerks from both the commercial and criminal bars.
Commitment to Excellence
We strive to provide expert, clear, and effective legal advice and representation, with a focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for our clients.
Our barristers possess a deep commitment to professional development and are selected based on their legal expertise, integrity, and dedication to maintaining the highest ethical standards.
Ethical Standards & compliance
All our full members of chambers are bound by the strict ethical guidelines set out by the Bar Standards Board (BSB).
We are committed to upholding the principles of honesty, integrity, and fairness in every aspect of our practice.
Equality & Diversity
As a Chambers and as individuals, we do not discriminate or tolerate any form of discrimination against anybody based on any protected characteristic.
We recognise that our commitment to inclusion requires that positive steps be taken to identify and eliminate possible areas of discrimination so as to ensure equality of access to all applicants, equality of treatment to all barristers and members of staff and equality of service to our professional and lay clients.
Our Equality and Diversity Officers are Martin Evans KC to whom queries, initial concerns and complaints should be directed.
Training
33 Chancery Lane is committed to promoting and advancing equality and diversity. We acknowledge that issues concerning inclusion are ongoing, and that we must all be involved in creating and fostering lasting change.
One of the ways in which we are seeking to engender change is by educating ourselves about discrimination that continues to exist.
Members of chambers and staff, particularly those in decision-making roles, are encouraged to participate in, and report back to chambers on, seminars, workshops and training sessions touching on diversity and inclusion.
We welcome input from individuals or organisations that have expertise in running these types of seminars, and are open to new avenues of learning.
Diversity Data
In accordance with Bar Standards Board requirements, 33 Chancery Lane publish below an anonymised summary of the Diversity Data collected in February 2022. All members of Chambers and staff were given the opportunity to provide Diversity Data so that an anonymous summary could be published on the Chambers website.
Due to the number of staff being below 10, their results (from question two onwards) have been published together with members of chambers to minimise the risk of publicising data which may result in the identification of an individual.

Recruitment Retention & Reasonable Adjustments

All members and staff involved in recruitment have undertaken appropriate training, and we are committed to the monitoring and review of fair allocation of work.
We appreciate the stress inherent in the work we do, for both staff and tenants in chambers. We encourage honest and open communication in relation to professional and personal issues, and will make reasonable accommodations for this on an individual basis. Although 33 Chancery Lane does not generally recruit pupils, there is a support system in place for new junior tenants. This support system is organised between the Head of Chambers, the Practice Director and the Wellbeing Committee.
We support all new parents and have a generous parental leave policy that enables new parents to take the time off that they need, and fully supports their return back to work.
We have strived to ensure that the Chambers premises is accessible to those with disabilities.

Training
Individual members of chambers are involved in outreach programmes to ensure access to information about the Bar, and opportunities for experience are available for all.
Chambers as a whole supports these individual initiatives, and takes steps to ensure that mini-pupillages are affordable and accessible for all. For further details on this scheme, please see the mini-pupillage page.
