Fahrid Chishty successfully secures three Crypto-Wallet Freezing Orders (CWFOs)

Fahrid Chishty successfully secures three Crypto-Wallet Freezing Orders (CWFOs) on behalf of a Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) in connection with a complex money laundering investigation.

The crypto-assets, which have a value in excess of £70,000.00 fiat and are hosted on a centralised exchange, have now been frozen by order of a Magistrates' Court pursuant to Section 303Z6 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 pending the completion of investigations.

CWFOs are an important new tool of the Civil Recovery Regime, enabling law enforcement agencies to freeze and seek forfeiture of crypto-assets that represent recoverable property or are intended for use in unlawful conduct
