Ian's first session, Cryptoassets: From Investigation to Recovery, focused on advising first responders at the scene and highlighting the critical role they play in shaping how an investigation unfolds through what they seize and how they handle the material they recover.
The second session in the series,The Asset Recovery Case That Goes Wrong, will be delivered on 6 November 2026. The session will examines why successful criminal investigations can nevertheless result in ineffective asset recovery. Through a practical case study, Ian Whitehurst explores the common pitfalls involving financial investigations, beneficial ownership, asset preservation, cryptoassets and cross-border cooperation, highlighting how early strategic decisions can determine whether criminal proceeds are ultimately recovered.
