Alistair Webster KC successful in defending major tax case

Alistair Webster KC has received confirmation that HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) will not oppose a series of appeals scheduled to be heard before the First-tier Tribunal (FTT) in June 2026. The appeals concerned denied tax claims and the imposition of penalties exceeding £20 million.

The case concerned the labour supply industry and included several years of investigation and challenges by HMRC. The decision not to contest the appeals brings the long‑running proceedings to an end and represents a significant outcome for the clients involved.

Alistair was instructed by Hamraj Kang and Stuart Southall of KANGS Solicitors, working alongside Michael Firth KC of Gray’s Inn Tax Chambers.
