33 Chambers is seeking to recruit a dynamic and ambitious clerk to join the practice management team

Salary – competitive package, commensurate with experience.

33 Chambers is a specialist set of barristers in the curtilage of Lincoln's Inn with a leading reputation in financial wrongdoing, asset recovery and commercial disputes. Our work spans onshore and offshore advisory, litigation and arbitration across the common law world, with particular depth in the Middle East and the Caribbean.

Core areas of practice include fraud, asset recovery, POCA, financial crime, commercial litigation, international arbitration, crypto and fintech, insolvency, banking and finance, tax, and investigations.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and ambitious clerk with seven to fifteen years' experience. An understanding of one or more of the markets in which Chambers operates is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will be committed to business development and enjoy it; proactive in forging and developing strong, productive relationships with professional clients; and able to work closely with the Chief Executive to continue to market and develop the services offered by Chambers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, support and develop the practices of barristers, including senior juniors, silks and specialist teams.

  • Provide strategic and commercial guidance to barristers on practice growth, market positioning and business opportunities.

  • Identify opportunities for new instructions, cross-selling and expansion into emerging areas of work.

  • Monitor workloads and fee performance to maximise profitability and efficiency.

  • Assist barristers with business development planning and implementation.

  • Oversee the effective management of diaries, hearings, conferences and other commitments.

  • Ensure work is allocated appropriately, having regard to seniority, expertise and availability.

  • Negotiate and agree fees with solicitors, professional clients and other instructing parties.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with solicitors, professional clients and key stakeholders.

  • Support the delivery of exceptional client service standards across Chambers.

  • Represent Chambers at networking events, conferences and client meetings.

  • Work with the senior management team to support Chambers' business development strategy.

  • Support marketing initiatives, seminars and profile-raising activities.

The successful candidate will have a strong academic background and excellent written and oral skills. They will be ambitious, able to work well under pressure, proactive, and organised in their approach to daily tasks. A polite and friendly manner and a willingness to learn are essential. As an ambassador for Chambers, the candidate will consistently maintain the highest professional standards.

The role offers the opportunity to develop clerking skills and to learn all aspects of running a set of Chambers.

33 Chambers is proud to be an equal opportunities employer.

To apply formally, or for an initial confidential discussion, please send your CV with a short covering letter to Sam Carter, Chief Executive and Director of Clerking, at sc@33cllaw.com.

The closing date for applications is 5 pm on 12 June 2026. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis and we encourage early applications.
